Where's Mummy?

I've returned from visiting my Dad this weekend as he finally got discharged from the hospital.  We don't know what is wrong technically, but we do know that it isn't life threatening.  Yeah!  Thank you to everyone who sent good wishes, prayers, hugs, tweets, and FB messages to me over the last few days. They were a great comfort to all of us.

It's Labor Day weekend, y'all! Didn't it just feel like the kids were running screaming from the double doors of their schools and letting their papers fly out behind them and you were searching for the perfect summer jam? I know, me too.

It's been chilly in the mornings, already. I don't know if I am quite ready to embrace that just yet. But get ready for fall we must. Here's a few ways to do just that.

I'm hosting a manners party for little girls at my house this weekend. Why yes, I am wearing a floral dress and just had my hair set. Why do you ask? I have three girls, I'm the etiquette bitch and my brood needs to know the importance of writing timely thank you notes and how to set a table. TD does get an allowance for that after all.

I'm jaunting off to Colorado Springs for work this week. In town for one night only! I won't get to see any sights like Pikes Peak or any sights actually but that's fine. The Fifth Element turns one this week and who needs Pikes Peak when there is an octopus cake to be made?

Where's Mummy?

Not home, that is for sure. I am sure if you swing into the Yorktown area of Virginia later today you will find me in a pool with my kids enjoying this first week of summer.

Earlier this week I was up in Dearborn, Michigan again with Ford. I know! I was beyond excited too! Drag racing F-150's, learning about new and current technology in Ford cars and meeting some amazing people. It was educational, inspiring and a total blast!



Ed Begley Jr spoke about the small things we can all do to help the environment. It was great to hear such passion from someone besides myself on this matter.

Ah, the Northern Neck. A place of supreme relaxation for me and my family. We venture down here as often as possible and I get a few seaside runs every chance I get.

On her third cup of coffee and still finding herself standing in her kitchen holding a fork, dish towel and piece of pineapple in her hand. Am I eating the pineapple with the fork or am I wiping it with the dish towel? I don't know. I'm too tired today to remember. Thanks Cinco de Mayo!

Where's Mummy?

The sound of a dog barking at an evil squirrel, a baby cries out and two sets of plastic dress up heels clack incessantly through the house.  These are the sounds of my life.  Tomorrow the house will be filled with fourteen girls squealing as a real live princess sings, dances and paints faces all to celebrate TD turning five.  Yeah, I went there.  Just this once, I swear!

Where's Mummy?

Under a pile of slushy snow that's where I am.  Oh, my little broken body!  All the shoveling,  all the men on my block who watched me shovel out my husband's parking space (I'm nice like that) while he was away for work and didn't lift a finger. I'm not bitter.  Other than the freak snow, sleet, hail and lightening storm we had this week I've been doing this-

The Find has me writing about the juicy orange lip color that is everywhere this spring in "Go Bold.." , Trish McEvoy's Emergency Beauty Card (AWESOME!),  and about "Having a LUSH Valentines Day".

Besides looking for cat naps and beginning to feel like a milking machine?  I've been up to a few things despite my lack of blogging activity.

The Toshiba Satellite U505 pretty pink laptop has left me sad since it has departed from my abode but the review is stellar. 

At Juno Baby I relay my deep, dark magazine addiction in "Confessions of a Magazine Addict", despite the fondue photo of TD I discuss my strategy in "Getting my Kids to Eat a Good Dinner", plus "Kids Day the Darnedest Things"

Besides being kicked out of bed at least twice last night and trying to sleep on the couch?  I'm nesting. I can't walk by the nursery without going in and organizing or hanging something up.  The cleaning of the baby gear comes next.

Where's Mummy?

Besides Idaho and back?  I've been flitting around the country this week, realizing that I am indeed grateful there will be no more airplane rides in my near future. I almost hurled over Denver and I'm sorry about that.  I got downright surly by the time I hit Dulles.  When you land and your phone instantly bings a text message reading, "Your Mom called. Something is wrong with Lex. I'm on my way home."  and then nothing, it's a bit disconcerting. 

So I'm back and Lex is at the animal hospital. Again.  2010 isn't proving to be the best year for her.  Seems she got bit by a snake yesterday afternoon and swelled in the face to ginormous proportions. I still haven't seen her.  She's been made comfortable but the swelling continues to grow and we just have to wait and see.  We don't know what kind of snake bit her and dogs don't respond to anti-venom apparently.  This dog kicked toe cancer this year.  Surely a snake bite won't do her in. Right?
