I'll Get There at Some Point

It's a beautiful snowy day here in the 'burbs. There's no school. Dash Two is teething and TD and I have a cold. I'm trying to stay positive but there was little sleep to be had in my house by me last night. I just couldn't stay asleep and for no good reason other than my brain was whirring away on mindless junk.

Today is day one on the meds my doctor prescribed. I'll take them for a month to see how it all goes. I just have one thing to say though, if one more person tells me I need to "just get more sleep and hit the gym." I'm going to cover them with brain goo because my head really will have exploded. Seriously? That's all I need to do? How about the fact that when I think of loading the kids in the car right now, the two hours it takes me to get out the door and lugging that heavy baby carrier around, my brain gets fuzzy and I have to shut my eyes to keep from having some sort of meltdown. I just can't deal with it right now. I need quiet, and yes, more sleep. I need a schedule for Dash Two and less going on in my life. When I think about scheduling appointments for me with a therapists and a psychiatrist like my doctor told me to do I get all panicky and can't figure out how it will all work. "There isn't enough time in the day!" my brain screams.

I will have to hire a sitter which I'm not sure we can afford and then that sends me into a tailspin of more guilt and uber-sucktastickness. The negativity is exuding off me and the anger is there today. I've turned into post-partum Darth Vader. I hate that I can't wrap my brain around it in some Zen like cocoon and push it away. It just ain't happening yet. But I feel pressure to be well already. Like one day of meds and the switch is flipped. Presto Chango! All better! I envy the women who never have to deal with this.

People tell me I need to be around more people to relax and take my mind off things but the last thing I want is a progressive dinner or potluck to prepare for or to head off to the store to buy even more vitamins. What's with the vitamins people? Why do people keep telling me about vitamins!?! I'm going to start hurling giant bottles of fish oil and vitamin B at passing cars soon.

I will say this - the support I've received from you all has been outstanding. I cannot get over it and it has helped me more than anything else so far. I appreciate it and it makes my days brighter. I know it will get better. I will get better. Next week I might even feel like going to the gym again. I just have to take it one day at a time right now and have faith. Lattes and Life has faith in me. She sent me this beautiful award and it made me cry. The Nobel Award is for Motherhood. It's an award for being a wonderful mom, for doing wonderful work, and to remind me to be proud of my accomplishment.

Thank you so much Tiffany- you have always given me support even when we were just little online support group friends (girlfriends of Marines y'all) back in our SoCal days.

And to think this was going to be a post about random stuff you might not know about me. Well here you go- I punch people in the face who try to give me throat cultures. It's like a reflex that I can't control. My current doctor has it in my chart not to do them. He has said, "I'm not a masochist. Here's your strep throat meds."

P.S. I wrote another car review. Calling all automakers- let me review your cars- I love this stuff! Check it out here at Autosavant.

Well! Don't I Just Rock?!

To keep up with the pace around here and the use of "rock", "rockin'" and "rockin' it hard", which H used last night like repeatedly until at one point when I heard him ask T.D., "Are you rockin' that water?" I decided he must not be allowed to watch Brett Michaels and 'The Rock of Love' EVER, EVER again.

But I digress...

I feel like I kind of do rock this week. Yesterday, ConnectingMoms put up their interview with me and introduced me to the whole CM crew as their new Mom Contributor. I'm elated! I get to raid discussion boards, promote this here cute blog and all my others while interviewing other amazing working mothers. I feel blessed to be in such good company and to be able to do such cool things.

Then, if you will direct your attention to the right of this blog, you'll notice a new button. It's the Graco Monthly Nod! Graco has a fantastic and fun blog of its very own and I was awarded two nods by them this month. Once for the Evil Knievel post and the other for a party piece on did on DC Metro Moms. It is the first month they do this and I'm honored. I'm touched. I might have even blushed a little bit. OK a lot.

I feel like today, it does not even matter that I downed all that buttery biscuited chocolate yesterday and then some Girl Scout Cookies. Nope. It only matters that, you like me. You really like me.

Thank you.

Green Your Routine

I am very pleased to announce the incredible news that Dana Hackley is the winner of Ziddio's Green Your Routine video contest.

Who is Dana Hackley and why should you care? Dana was one of my college roommates, we shared a bunk in an insanely tiny room together in our sorority house and we didn't kill each other in the night. That is an amazing feat if you were to see the size of the room. I think prisoners have bigger cells. We've been in each others weddings and lives for over ten years now (ugh I feel old) and had our first babes within a year of each other. Dana is a busy woman. She writes, she teaches and she creates Academy Award winning videos. That's right. My old roomie has one the Global Green Academy Award. I'm so (sniff) proud.

Here it is- Not So Disposable, by Dana Hackley

Happy Monday!

It's a cold, blustery day and it feels more like January than mid-April. The weather is seeping into my soul making it a gooey, slightly sticky, clumped with allergen inducing dust bunny darkened mess. I lurched downstairs to head to the office, ignoring the howling winds outside my door. My coffee in hand I decided to check out my site meter. I do this weekly just to get stats, see who's reading and who's not, etc. I found a link I didn't know about.
Mothers Day Central and there I was listed as one of the Top 100 Mom Blogs! Seriously!?! ME?!

I mean I like me. Most days. I just had no idea other people liked me like that. It was the push I needed to see and hear. Sometimes I wonder if anyone is really reading this, if I am actually good at this blogging/writing thing, and whether or not I should even keep going. So I just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to my readers and supporters. I love that you all always know when to tell me I'm doing something good and it's just when I need to hear it.

It also makes me beg the question- who on earth nominated me? Step forward! I wish to thank you publicly. A question that is always on my mind is also who are my readers? I would love to know you better. Drop me a line, check in and say hi, tell me what you like about the site and/or why you read it. I would love some feedback.

Again THANK YOU and it's great to see all my favorite blogs that you can find in my sidebar links also are on the list.

Cheers!
