Beware of the 37 Week Lady

Ummm.. yeah... if anyone reads about a woman going completely batty in her doctors office and chaining herself to a set of stir-ups until an induction date is given, just assume it is me.

After a long weekend of feeling like total crap on a stick I ended up going back to my doctor yesterday. My neighbors demanded I call in as I was swelling before their eyes as I stood on the sidewalk chatting for a few mere minutes. Minutes. I stand for ten and I balloon up. I am like Eddie Murphey in the Nutty Professor. My lips have been invaded by Angelina Jolie's. And not in a good way.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm so over this. I'm starting to feel like I might physically hurt the next medical professional who tells me I should just put my feet up, drink my liquids and relax because I'm not going anywhere for another two weeks. Really? Really?!? I don't think the doctors think they'll be in a full body cast by the end of the week either but that just might happen if I don't have this kid sometime this weekend.

My gut instinct tells me not to wait until 39 weeks. That 38 is good enough and waiting until 39 with my crappy placenta and continuing list of ailments that are not healthy in any way are not doing either Dash Two or me any good.

Now, I'm going to go stand in line and hope someone feels bad enough to let me cut in front of them so I can vote and then go sit my swollen ass back down. Even my feet look like my now mixed political state. Purple.

  1. Good luck at the polls!!! I was lucky enough to do early voting....Too bad they don't have exceptions for the very pregnant, huh?

Yea, the swelling isn't such a great thing. It was one of the reasons (along with my BP) that I ended up on bed rest. And both my kiddos were 38 weekers. Apparently, my last OB had to get special permission from the Chief of Staff to do my C-section at 38 weeks, since they don't do them until 39 weeks without a valid medical reason. So, I'll keep you in my prayers and send you happy vibes :-)

They have to let the pregnant lady go first, right?

    Hi Vicky,

I really enjoy your blog. I watched an author named Christopher Flett on the Today Show, he wrote a book called "What Men Don't Tell Women About Business" and it shares secrets for women working in business. I thought you might enjoy hearing about him. There could be some great content in their for future posts.

    Keep up the great work.

    Sincerely,

    Bihter

    Hi Vicky,

The author, Christopher Flett, was featured in the NY Times regarding women keeping their careers on track while having their family. His book, "What Men Don't Tell Women About Business" was sold out at the Barnes and Noble I went to so I ordered it at Amazon. I read a lot of blogs and he seems to be popular.

I wish someone would interview him about how to stay OFF the mommy track. Why don't you interview him and post it on your blog? I saw that he was a guest commentator on "the Juggle" (Wall Street Journal). His email listed there was chris@ghostceo.com I checked out his website and it looks pretty good.

Anyway, keep up the great topics.

    Best,

    Bihter.
