Random Question # 113

While you can easily admit that you are obsessed with your iPod or MP3 player you know that what is on that little device also consists of some dirty little secrets. Go on, share. You know you want to. What dreadful songs do you rock out to or harmonize with when no one else is around?

If someone at the gym just grabbed your earbuds would you melt into the treadmill in shame because you were listening to something like, Vanilla Ice or Weird Al?

I'll confess to-

The Muppet Theme Song (shut up, it destresses me.)

I Gotta Man by Positive K

Freak Like Me, Adina Howard

Faded, by Soul Decision

The Power of Love, Huey Lewis & the News

Arthur's Theme, Christopher Cross

There are more, many more that are equally bad or even worse. H says, that it just demonstrates my lack of taste in music, but I think you get the idea.

  1. Ha! We saw Huey Lewis last week in Leesburg. It was a great concert!

I found myself singing exuberantly to "I Got My Mind Set on You" by George Harrison the other day in the care. I sang so loud and proud, and about halfway through, I though, "This is a TERRIBLE song!!" And I think I did change the station. Oh well.

And I *love* the song "Roll to Me," by Del Amitri. It's a short song, so I'll back up and listen to it 3-4 times in a row. Sad.

  3. Okay. You asked:

When You're Next to Me - Mitch & Mickey (They aren't even real people. It's Katherine and O'Hara and Eugene Levy making FUN of folk music.)

    Silver and Cold - A.F.I.

The entire album - They Might Be Giants Here Come the 1-2-3s

  4. I love that the muppet song destresses you. I have that song from the sea world commercial "The child inside", some classical, some jazz, even some Kenny G. The Hannah Montana CD's,Stevie Wonder, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Alicia Keys, Tim McGraw, Carbon Leaf, Elvis, 311, Billie Holiday. I could go on and on. I have a pretty extensive collection. And I'm not embarased about any of it. Music makes me happy.

  5. I love a good power walk on a wooded trail to Carly Simon's "Let the River Run" blaring like I'm Melanie Griffith in Working Girl.

  6. Let me tell you what I am so into these days, not my ipod but a book my book club is reading, the novel, "The Book of Mom" by Taylor Wilshire. It's about a stay-at-home mom that burns out, loses her passion to life and how she gets it back. It is a light, funny read packed with some grounded tools on parenting, marriage and self help. I thought the main character was a bit whiny but think it is the best book out there for summer fun. Have you read it? If yes, what did you think?

    Vicky,
Christopher Cross is great! I think I am going to put Think of Laura on my iPod when finished here. I would say that my daughter has told me how ridiculous I look when I listen to Meatloaf's "You Took the Words Out of My Mouth" and Heart. I love Meatloaf and the Wilson sisters-and I don't care how embarrassing I look when I hear them! Helen

  10. I - gulp! - confess to the Barney Bread Song. "I know a brown bread, its delicious, so delicious would you like a bite. Pumpernickel, pumpernickel, yum yum pumpernickel, yum, yum pumpernickel. Pumpernickel bread!" My kids are ten and twelve and I still can't get that damn song out of my head. So now I play it when I bake. Y'know, for inspiration. Please don't tell anyone.
